Is your school looking at ways to improve pupils’ attainment and progress in English or Maths?
Has your school reviewed the impact and effectiveness of the quality of teaching, curriculum, assessment strategies, GCSE skills development, and the impact of subject in relation to pupils’ achievement, and in relation to the latest Ofsted framework?
Working with your leaders and governors we can offer an English and / or Maths Subject Review that will provide an evaluation of the impact of the quality of your English / Maths provision in relation to the outcomes achieved (attainment and progress) by your pupils.
The one-day reviews will include:
Review and Analyse
School inspection and monitoring reports, for English and Literacy/ Maths including a review of improvement / development plans for improving teaching and learning in English and Maths
Key Stage 3 curriculum for English/ Maths to ensure that it covers all skills and content strands for the subject and prepares pupils for the rigour of the new GCSE specifications
Key Stage 4 curriculum for English/ Maths to ensure that the delivery and assessment model will prepare pupils for the new GCSE specifications
The quality of English/ Maths teaching including providing coaching to arrive at judgements for the overall quality of the teaching – not individual grades
Pupils’ achievement (attainment and progress data over time) in relation to the quality of teaching within English/ Maths and in relation to subject leadership
The assessment model being used at Key Stage 3 and 4 and support to ensure its effectiveness
Pupils’ progress over time in their workbooks compared to the quality of learning and teaching within the subject / theme.
Leaders with responsibility within English / Maths to review the impact of their leadership
A panel of pupils to seek their ‘voice’ about their learning experiences in the subject and to evaluate how well they are supported throughout their learning to develop their achievement and development outcomes
The link Governor to evaluate the impact of their role in championing subject improvements.
We will provide a Subject Report and Action Plan which will evaluate the impact of the quality of everything observed when compared to pupils’ achievement outcomes, and the extent to which the leadership and management of the subject is positively impacting on providing sustained improvements in teaching and learning over time
Our reports have been recognised as exemplary practice by Ofsted HMI inspectors, and can be used as evidence towards school improvement, evaluation and inspection.
